Tattoo blowout can happen when the ink penetrates too deeply into the skin . Blowout is a leakage of ink where the ink spreads from its placement into the skin’s surrounding network of capillaries. While tattoo blowout is not 100% preventable, steps can be taken to assure that a tattoo does not suffer a blowout.
The best preventative measure is to use a well experienced and qualified tattoo artist. Since the normal cause of tattoo blowouts is tattooing too deeply, an experience artist is key. Check the person’s references, ask for photos of previous work, and make sure that all licenses are up to date.
Also critical is careful tattoo care. Follow the recommendations of your artist. Generally, you should keep a new tattoo bandaged for at least 6-8 hours after tattooing and use an antibacterial gel for several days. Keep the area clean and keep it moist by applying non-irritating lotions. By following the after care instructions you are given, you can greatly decrease the chances of a tattoo blowout.
