The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream

January 3, 2015

I discovered The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream when I started law school eight years ago. Let’s just say the long days that started early with classes and didn’t end until the library closed at 11PM did nothing for the skin around my eyes. I quickly developed dark circles and puffiness. Since I didn’t want to spend the next three years of my life looking like a raccoon, I scoured the stores for an eye cream that was effective, yet gentle and safe for contact lens wearers. This product was a winner.

My immediate draw to the eye cream was the overall feel of it. The cream is thick and loaded with vitamin E. Its non-greasy formula glides on smooth and absorbs quickly into the skin. I was able to put it on in the morning and then layer my sun protection and makeup over it minutes later. Best of all, I noticed that the dark circles beneath my eyes were lighter after the first application. After about a week of continued application both in the morning and before bed, the puffiness diminished as well.

Due to the cream’s high vitamin E content, the skin around my eyes was left moisturized and supple. This was a good thing, considering how all my squinting at those books could have caused crow’s feet! I also like how the product is made with mostly botanical ingredients. My skin tends to be sensitive to products containing a large number of harsh chemicals. This eye cream doesn’t contain those. The manufacturer, The Body Shop, prides itself on carrying products which list ingredients found in nature and have no animal testing.

The only downside to this product is that it doesn’t contain any age-fighting ingredients. If you are concerned about wrinkles or broken capillaries, then you may want to look for an eye cream specifically tailored to address those areas. Otherwise, Vitamin E Eye Cream is suitable for those with sensitive skin or are looking to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles.

It’s been five years since I’ve graduated law school, but this eye cream is still a class act for me. I’m thirty years old and I use it every day.

I love using products for puffiness and dark shadows under the eyes, but I also need some anti-aging. I might try this just for a morning routine and apply anti-aging cream at night to see if it works!
