Got a party invite for a formal or semi-formal affair and don’t know what to wear? For a cocktail or semi-formal party, a classic or elegnat cocktail dress is the best option. Meanwhile for a truly formal or black tie event, choose a full length evening gown.
But, here is a twist. It isn’t unusual to see evening gowns won at semi-formal events such as upscale cocktail parties. This is especially true for evening gowns made form lighter and less “formal” material such as silk, or chiffon.
However, save the sequin and heavy evening dresses for those truly formal affair. Otherwise you will look overdressed.
Evening dresses are available in many stores. I am particularly fond of Nordstrom. Popular bands include Terrani Couture, Cache, Langhem and Jadore evening dresses.
