The World’s Most Expensive Shoes

Some fashionistas will tell you that there’s no cost too high when it comes to that perfect pair of designer shoes – but some of the world’s most expensive shoes will doubtless prove a little too pricey for even the most dedicated fashion footwear fanatic! Here’s a look at three of the most expensive – and beautiful – designer shoes ever produced by the fashion world:

Diamond Dream Stilettos

Footwear designer Stuart Weitzman has created some of the fashion world’s most desirable and dazzling shoes – they are also among the world’s most expensive! These shoes were designed for Dreamgirls star Anika Noni Rose, who wore them to the 2007 Oscars. It’s no wonder these are some of the world’s most expensive shoes – the Diamond Dream footwear features no less than 1420 gorgeous 30 carat diamonds. The shoes came with a hefty $500 000 price tag, but they’re far from the most expensive womens shoes designed by Weitzman – his ravishing Ruby Slippers are valued at $1.6 million, and his beautifully blue Tanzanite Heels are worth a jaw-dropping $2 million!

Roger Vivier Vintage Heels

Back in 1962, the late great Roger Vivier designed a pair of kitten heels to grace the feet of an Iranian princess. The French designer created one of the world’s most expensive pairs of shoes by embroidering them with silver thread and encrusting them with precious topaz.

These shoes sold for an expensive and impressive $26 629, and today, you’ll find the French Shoe Federation deems Viver’s shoes to be absolutely priceless.

Original Ruby Slippers

Who could possibly forget the gorgeous pair of ruby slippers worn by a young Judy Garland in the 1939 production of The Wizard of Oz? This famous pair of shoes has also earned a place not only among the world’s most expensive footwear, but also in the ranks of the most valuable pieces of film memorabilia. It’s believed that seven pairs of these scarlet shoes were originally created for the film, and the four surviving pairs became some of the industry’s most coveted and expensive shoes. One pair of Ruby Slippers was auctioned at Christie’s for an impressive $612 000.

These aren’t the only Ruby Slippers to rank among the fashion industry’s most expensive shoes. As mentioned above, the original design inspired Stuart Weitzman to create a pair of $1.6 million red satin stilettos encrusted with 642 Burma rubies. The most expensive Wizard of Oz-inspired shoes however, were designed by Ronald Winston and Javiar Barerra in celebration of the movie’s 50th anniversary. The shoes were created in 1989, and featured more than four thousand rubies, not to mention 50 carats worth of diamonds! These shoes boast one of the world’s most expensive price tags, valued at $3 million.

Do you think these extravagant and expensive shoes are worth such a large sum of money? Celebrity fashionistas certainly do!
