Smooth Hydrated Skin With Shea Butter

Do you live in New York City? If you do you might have ever strolled 125th Street in Harlem or the summer African Street Festival in Brooklyn where you saw huge piles of Shea butter for sale on fold-up tables. This is where many spa enthusiast, skin care experts and health nuts, like myself, came to purchased some of that rich butter to take home. In my younger days I used to melt it down and blend it with essential oils of vanilla, sandalwood, or frankincense and applied to soothe and moisturize my dry skin in the depths of winter. You might have done this and therefore need no convincing of the intense hydrating properties of this natural wonder butter for skin and hair care.

Shea butter is produced from the nut of the Karite or Shea tree from the Savannah regions of West Africa in Burkina Faso, Ghana, and Mali. The edible nut of the tree has been the source of this brilliant moisturizing butter used for many centuries for both culinary and health purposes.  And in todays world it is one of the most popular ingredients for creams that are healing and nurturing to your skin.

Women have traditionally harvested, dried, crushed and pressed the oil from the collected nuts to yield the butter to protect the skin from the elements of extreme climates. Shea is a natural anti-inflammatory that has been used to treat wind-burned skin, eczema, dermatitis, and even acts as a nasal decongestant when applied to the inner nostrils.  It soothes and reduces the symptoms of extremely dry skin like flaking and redness, leaving the skin free of the fine lines associated with dehydration.

In this manner, the butter gives skin radiance and a youthful glow less likely to wrinkle prematurely because it is sufficiently moisturized.  Shea also contains stigmasterol, a sterol compound extremely useful in relieving stiffness, making it excellent for use in massage or treating the symptoms of rheumatism.

Consider some other skin benefits Shea butter offers:

Natural sunscreen that protects against damage from exposure to UV rays

Heals wounds rapidly without scarring

Enhances skin’s elasticity for a more youthful look

Minimizes wrinkles and fine lines

Diminishes dry skin and the visible results of moisture-depleted skin.

The high content of fatty acids rejuvenates skin cell production

Promotes even skin tone

Reduces the appearance of stretch marks and blemishes

Shea butter is packed with Vitamins A, E and F that bring healthier, silky smooth skin to the surface while shedding older skin cells.  With the use of this marvelous butter you’re enabling your skin to produce a healthier fresh epidermal layer that is vivacious and free of the signs of aging.
