Pink Bow Bath Boutique Luscious Lip Balm

Often the best balms come from the small scale sellers. You can find their items on small scale websites and Etsy,  or you might see them sold at farmers markets and local boutiques.  Pink Bow Bath Boutique is one of these, and they have a wonderful pot balm.

Pink Bow Botique Luscious Lip Balm

Pink Bow’s Luscious Lip Balm is a particularly buttery balm. It is a bit lighter on the wax and heavier on the oils, including a couple of my favorites: hemp seed oil, olive oil, and meadowfoam seed oil. It also contains shea butter, which I happen to love as an ingredient. The upshot is that this balm has a nice heavy moisturizing feel to it, without any waxy feeling. I would describe it as a thick lip butter. The oils also add a nice gloss to it.

The balm comes in six varieties.  I tried Pink Blush (pictured) and Peachy Pink.  Pink Blush has a fairly heavy pink tint to it, although it doesn’t tint the lips too much–the tint is quite sheer. Pink Blush also has a fairly strong berry flavor that I adore. I found it to be one of the best berry flavored balms that I have tried.  Peachy Pink was a bit lighter on the flavor.

Pink Bow packages their balms up nicely as well. So for a bit of homemade goodness, check them out!

Guest Post: Milani Glitzy Glamour Gloss Collection

glitzy-glamour-lgToday, Girl Gloss features a guest post from Samantha Radakovitz, who I asked to try out some items from Milani Cosmetics. Samantha is studying journalism, with the hope to be a fashion journalist. Here is Samantha’s review, with swatches:

I love the Milani Glitzy Glamour Gloss Collection. I have tried four out of the ten shades they have: first class, glow girl, lady like and struck by beauty. They’re definitely the type of gloss you would be more likely to wear out at night. They’re extremely shinny and moisturizing.

The nice thing is that unlike most lip glosses, it doesn’t get sticky. It feels more like you are wearing lip balm. My favorite was struck by beauty, it is the lightest shade of the four I tried. It’s close to a  bubblegum pink with lots of shimmer. All the colors are extremely bold no matter how dark or light.

Here are a few swabs of the colors I tried. It is hard to show the exact color through my camera, but you can see the basic idea of how much the colors stand out.

Sephora Lip Attitude Chic Lipstick

Sephora Lip Attitude Lipstick Sephora Lip Attitude Chic is one of Sephora’s store brands of lipstick. I received a sample in my last order from them, which amused me. I love little lipstick samples, but they can be hard to find!

Anyway, the lipstick in enriched with botanical oils and omega 3. Taking fish oil for omega 3 is pretty good for you, but I’m not sure it really does much topically. In any event, it still is a very nice lipstick. The color is medium sheer and stays put fairly well. The oil also keeps it nicely moisturizing and comfortable. It also give the lipstick a bit of a shine. The shade I tried, Talented Berry, was a nice standard berry color that would be flattering on just about everyone.

So far, I have been rather happy with the Sephora brand items that I have tried. Considering that they cost less than many of the other items in the store and seem to be pretty good quality, I image that I will be trying more.
