MAC Satin Lipstick Pink Nouveau Review

This is a guest review of MAC Satin Lipstick in Pink Nouveau.

Love at first sight is the best way to describe how I feel about my favorite lipstick, MAC Satin Lipstick in Pink Nouveau. Pink Nouveau is a richly pigmented shade of pink that reminds me of a tropical orchid growing on an island somewhere in the South Pacific. It is not a pale shade of pink and definitely makes a statement. The color is so beautiful that strangers have stopped me on numerous occasions to tell me how much they like it!

MAC Pink Nouveau

MAC Satin in Pink Nouveau is an extremely versatile shade of lipstick. It is one of my go to shades for everyday wear. It works really well over lip primer and painted on with a lip brush. I also wear MAC Satin in Pink Nouveau for evenings out with a small bit of lip gloss in the center of my lips. I don’t have a lip liner for this shade of lipstick but have found that I like to line my lips with another favorite shade of MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick in Up the Amp which is sort of a shade of violet or pinkish purple not quite mauve. It is deep color that compliments the Pink Nouveau nicely. The combination is another go to choice for evenings out.

In addition to the richly pigmented colors, I love the wearability that I have found only in MAC lipsticks. MAC lipsticks stay on your lips for a long time and do not dry them out. They don’t gunk up and the flavor and scent is mild and pleasant. MAC lipsticks are also very affordable, usually in the $13 to $15 range. MAC lipsticks last a long time and the company has a recycle incentive program which gives you a free lipstick for every six empty MAC cosmetic containers that you bring in.

Lipstick is my favorite cosmetic and if I had to choose only one I would choose lipstick. Consequently, I have tried many, many brands of lipstick and when I stumbled upon MAC lipsticks, I found a keeper. I have been a loyal customer ever since.

Men find contrasts appealing and regardless of what the season is, lipsticks are very effective pieces of make-up that helps accentuate your lips. These highlight its contrast with your face’s skin. Though fall is already here, it is never too late to keep yourself up to date with the latest make-trends. Here are some of the top lipstick shades that helps keep your lips look fashionable during fall according to one make up expert.

Fall lipstick trends 2012

- Orange. This is one of 2012’s signature lip shade and this autumn, this color stays. More than being hip and fashionable, this lipstick colors helps the teeth look whiter compared to dark and vibrant reds. Clear, clean, and golden warm, this shade is one of the perfect shades this fall.

- Matte Pink. Enough of the glossy shades! Matte pinks are making a big comeback this fall as this hip and wild shade gives an air of fun and youth. This year, having this shade on your make-up kit is a must-have.

- Classic Red. Lipsticks and red almost always comes hand-in-hand. When someone talks about lipsticks, the first shade that comes to mind, is this color. Red is always in fashion regardless of the season and this fall of 2012 is no exception.

- Electric Red. If plain and simple red is not enough for you, why not try a shade of it that’s a tad more exciting? This electrifying and energizing color is safe, but has a stronger attitude. This powerful shade goes well with a thick coat of mascara and thin, black eyeliner.

- Purple. If you have a medium or deep skin tone, this exotic, mysterious color gives you an air of confidence. This lipstick shade goes well with equally exotic colors.

- Nude. This “grounded”, “down to earth” hue is perfect for work. This simple shade is also great for this season however, it can be tricky depending on your skin tone. Err in the side of caution and make sure to choose nude shades with more caramel and honey tones in them.

L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick Review

This is a guest review of L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick.

I have lots of beauty products that I enjoy using on a daily basis, but my favorite lipstick has to be L’oreal Colour Riche. I love trendy colors, and this line has plenty of them. The British Red is my current favorite for dressy evenings, and I like a nice peachy color for the day, for a fresh transition from summer to autumn.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick

I love Colour Riche because there is usually a wide selection of colors. From trendy to classic, whether you like matte or shimmer, bright or subdued, you’re guaranteed to find a color you like. They also offer colors that are flattering to a large variety of skin tones, and are deeply pigmented to show up well regardless of skin tone. They have a selection of cool and warm reds, pinks and peaches, so I can always find a shade that looks the best with my skin. They are easy to apply, and only need blotting for the brightest colors, so swiping on a nice neutral before leaving the house is quick and efficient. As a busy person, I’m always looking for high impact, low maintenance make up to maximize my look and save time. Convenience is key for make up on the go, and this lipstick slips easily into a purse or bag, with a snap-lock cap to avoid a mess.

Since I’m also a student, I’m usually looking to save a buck, and it’s certainly one of the most affordable lipsticks I’ve used. It works almost like a lip stain, and I’ve found it to be the longest-lasting lipstick available in its price range. Of course, that comes with the caveat that most colors in this price range don’t last quite as long as expensive lipsticks. You do get what you pay for, to some extent, so a low cost lipstick is probably not going to last for hours like an expensive lipstick. I reapply Colour Riche about once every two or three hours if I want the color to last all day. In combination with a lipgloss or primer, I’ve made it last longer than that, and this lipstick does very well when combined with other products. It blends easily into gloss and primer, so you can mix and match a little and come up with your own unique shade.
I highly recommend Colour Riche as an affordable lipstick that gets the most bang for your buck!
