e.l.f. Lip Gloss and Mineral Gloss

e.l.f., which stands for Eyes Lips Face, is a company that focuses on value in cosmetics. They offer a huge variety of items that are good quality, but surprisingly low in price. I have used various e.l.f. lip products in the past and am a bit of a fan, so when they asked me to write about them, I was more than happy to do so.

In terms of lip gloss, e.l.f. Super Glossy Lip is a great value gloss. This tube gloss is a standard gloss that gives high shine and applies easily. A number of the shades are lightly scented and flavored (vanilla grape), which I prefer over unflavored simply because it seems like tube lip glosses can often get a bit of a chemical taste to them when not flavored. The best thing about e.l.f gloss though is the price. It is $1. Yep, a buck! And it is perfectly comparable to drugstore glosses that cost $5 or more each.

Also popular are the Hypershine lip glosses. I have not personally tried these, but have a friend who uses them and is quite happy with them. These are glosses with a built in brush. Gloss is twisted/clicked up into the brush for easy application. Like the super glossy, they are only $1 each. Alternately, you can get a set of 5 for $5, which would also make a great gift.

I am a fan of mineral gloss, mainly because it tends to provide good color without getting too sticky, but yet also moisturizes and shine.e.l.f mineral gloss gives a sheer tint and includes Coconut Oil and vitamins A and E to protect and moisturize your lips. It does not include parabens. User reviews of it are quite good. At $3 for a tube, it is the best value in mineral lip gloss that you can find. I am not aware of any more affordable mineral glosses and, based on my other experiences with e.l.f., I assume that the quality is as good as most drugstore quality brands. But a mineral gloss in the other brands will normally cost at least twice as much.

Overall, take a look at e.l.f. for great value lip products.  It is hard to beat a buck a piece for lip gloss!

Nivea Tinted Lip Balm

At some point in time I purchased a Nivea A Kiss of Flavor Passion Fruit Tinted Lip Care balm. Then I promptly forgot about it only to discover it the other day. Now, how I could overlook something as lovely as a passion fruit flavor balm, I’ll never know. That is a favorite flavor of mine, and it isn’t very common. On top of it, I like lightly tinted balms.

The Nivea tinted lip balm did not disappoint. The flavor is light, yet tasty, and the tint is quite nice. this one have a bright enough tint with a fair amount of pigment, so you can actually get some decent sheer color form it—something that many tinted balms fail at. Moisturization from the balm is decent. It isn’t best balm I have had and I had to reapply a bit more often than I prefer, but for the trade off of getting a nice tint and a favorite flavor, I really don’t mind.

Nivea tends to run between $2-3 and can be found at most drugstores.
