Chapstick Fresh Effects Lip Balm

Chapstick has a new lip balm out, ChapStick Fresh Effects, in two flavors: Refreshing Mandarin and Invigorating Green Tea Mint.

Chapstick Fresh Effects Balm

I gave both flavors a try and was quite pleased with them.  The balm itself has some mint and other ingredients that create a light tingling and cooling sensation. Go figure that I threw out the box before I took a look to see just what ingredient made it tingle. I suspect menthol or eucalyptus, or something similar. Anyway, I rather liked the sensation.

The texture of these balms is quite nice. It is a bit creamier than standard Chapstick, which tends to be quite a bit on the waxy side. Yet, it isn’t so creamy or oil based that constant reapplication is needed. I tend to like my balms to be in that middle road area.

Mostly though, these balms taste good! I really liked both flavors, especially the mandarin one. You can find Chapstick Fresh effects at just about any drugstore, grocery store or big box retailer.

Chapstick Overnight Lip Treatment

I am a lip balm junkie and usually reapply it several times overnight. So, when I came across Chapstick Overnight Lip treatment at a drugstore, I figured I would love it. Unfortunately, I had mixed results.

I found that the cream-like balm didn’t last all that well for me and I ended up reapplying my regular balm, which I also preferred, just as often.

The ingredient list also wasn’t all that impressive to me:

Active Ingredient: Dimethicone (2%). Inactive Ingredients: Aloe Extract, Cetyl Alcohol, Colloidal Silicon Dioxide, Cyclomethicone, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Isocetyl Stearate, Lactic Acid, Methylparaben, Microcrystalline Wax, Petrolatum, Propylparaben, Salicylic Acid, Vitamin A, Vitamin E.

There are a couple of exfoliators in there, some not-so-natural moisturizers, and paraben preservatives. since I can get more moisture with a good natural balm made with a nice mix of oils, butters and wax, I will stick with that.

New ChapStick True Shimmer Flavors

Chapstick True Shimmer ChapStick’s True Shimmer balms are among my favorites (read previous review). The balms have great flavor, a bit of fun shimmer, and they last well.

Now there are two new flavors: Blended Fruit Sherbet and Peppermint Rush. Both are high in flavor. The peppermint one has a blue tint to it, but don’t worry, it won’t make your lips blue!
