What to Expect From a Brazilian Wax

Summer is just around the corner, and women everywhere are planning vacations to the beach or a nice Summer cruise in the Pacific. Wearing a bikini during Summer activities can require a lot of personal maintenance, which is why many women seek professional hair-removal, such as laser hair removal or, with increasing popularity, a Brazilian wax.

A Brazilian wax is much different from other hair removal options; as this waxing concentrates on the back, front, and everything in between in the bikini area. Those who prefer getting a Brazilian wax will typically still have a “landing strip” in the front, while everything else becomes smooth and hairless. The Brazilian wax is quickly becoming the most popular form of bikini hair removal for women in America.

What to Expect From a Brazilian Wax

A Brazilian wax involves the application of hot wax to any hair in the bikini area. The waxer will usually first apply talcum powder to the areas in which you want your hair removed to help prevent the wax from sticking to your skin. Then hot wax is spread onto the hair with a wooden spoon, and a piece of cloth is smoothed over it until the wax cools, allowing the cloth, wax, and hair to stick to one another. Finally, your waxer pulls the strip opposite the direction of hair growth to seamlessly remove the hair in the bikini and buttocks regions by the roots.

Important Considerations

According to Shalaine Howell, an esthetician at Collins Dentistry & Aesthetics in Spokane, there are a few things women should know before they seek a Brazilian wax.

“The hair has to be a quarter-inch long; so if you shave, you have to wait ten to twelve days for the hair to grow out,” she said. “I also always ask clients, if they are on their periods or if they are about to start, to avoid (waxing) for five to seven days, because it makes them uncomfortable and it makes the procedure a little more intolerable.”

Howell also says patients who are on prescription blood thinners or the anti-acne drug, Accutane should not get waxed until they’ve been off these medications for at least six to eight months.

“These medications affect the liver by thinning the blood and the skin; and so if you put that wax over the skin, you have the chance of ripping skin off,” she said.

As long as you consider any factors that might make your waxing experience unpleasant, getting a Brazilian wax could make this bikini season a more freeing and comfortable venture.

How to get rid of tired eyes

Tired eyes aren’t just the bane of new parents and party-rockers. Busy lives, stresses and strains can all contribute. So how do you get rid of tired eyes ? Well for starters, are you taking care of your under eye skin?

eye cover

The skin under your eyes can be ten times thinner than elsewhere on your face. And due to fewer oil glands, if you neglect this area of your skin, this is where premature ageing will show. Now, thanks to modern skincare, there are shelves of dedicated eye creams and products to help not just mask dark circles and tired eyes, but to treat them. From products promising to battle bags, to others helping to combat dark circles. Get into the habit of applying a dedicated eye cream both in the morning, and at night time. These will help rejuvenate and replenish the delicate skin there, adding much needed moisturise. This is particularly important as we get older because as we age the skin under our eyes gets thinner. Try using an eye cream rich in Vitamins A, E and C. And when you are removing your makeup, do treat your skin gently: never rub or pull skin, rather pat it.

Secondly, are you getting enough beauty sleep? Experts say if you’re feeling tired during the day, this is an indication you’re not getting enough sleep. On average, seven to nine hours is recommended though everyone is different. But don’t over-sleep, this is just as bad as not getting enough. Diet is another vital factor and it’s also important to make sure you’re drinking enough fluid. Water in particular helps keep you hydrated which in turn helps your skin to look better, flushing out toxins and tackling lines and wrinkles.

Have a rummage round your kitchen for natural helpers to soothe tired eyes. Top of the list are cucumber, white potato and a cooled, used tea bag. Placing a thin slice of the potato or cucumber over each of your eyes acts as cold compress while the tannins in the tea help to reduce puffiness and help dark circles. So just lie down and relax for about ten minutes if you can and let natural remedies take effect.

And makeup is your friend in this instances so do use concealer to hide dark circles in particular. Plus white eyeliner along the lower lash line will help create a wide-eyed look.
Finally for some, the problem runs much deeper into genes, diet and medical conditions such as anemia. So if in doubt, go see you doctor for advice.
