Cover Girl And Olay Foundation Review

Below is a guest review of Cover Girl and Olay Tone Rehab Foundation.

When it comes to foundation, I want something that is light and easy to apply. That is why I like the Cover Girl and Olay Foundation at Target. I like this foundation because there are several options in the same line of makeup. My favorite is the liquid foundation because I can control the amount that I put on my face. When I use the powder, I sometimes get too much and I have to start over.

There are many shades to choose from with the Cover Girl foundation products. If I am going to school or work, I wear the Ivory so that I look professional. When I go out for a special event, I usually wear something a little darker like the beige or natural. I can use any other makeup with the foundation without any concerns about the makeup smearing or looking too bold. Most of the other makeup that I use is by Cover Girl, but I have also used other brands, and they work well with the foundation.

The makeup does not get old and clumped like some other foundations I have used. I know that I can keep the product for months and still be able to use it. The foundation goes on very smooth, and it feels like I have nothing on at all. Some foundations that I have used end up darker on some areas of my face. This foundation blends with my skin tone so that it looks very natural. I love this product, and plan to try some of the other foundations that Cover Girl makes in the future.

Almay Line Smoothing Makeup

This is a reader review of Almay Line Smoothing Makeup.

I’ve been a fan of Almay foundation for several years. Not too long ago, the company stopped selling a precise product that I really liked, and I briefly attempted to make a switch to another brand. Within a few days, I was back at the store and back with Almay. No one else seems to make liquid foundation that works better for my face and complexion.

Almay Line Smoothing Makeup

The product I’m currently using is Almay Line Smoothing makeup. It’s a liquid base foundation that comes in a 1 oz. bottle with a screw top lip. Unlike many liquid foundations that can be too thin or too thick, Almay Line Smoothing seems to have the perfect consistency. I usually have to shake the bottle a bit against my palm to get some of it out. Once I’ve poured some onto my palm, I use a fingertip to smooth it onto my face. It glides on smoothly and blends so easily. I never feel like I’ve got too heavy a layer or that it’s going to wear off too soon.

Although this foundation could definitely be used for fairly complete coverage, I tend to use it most for problem skin areas. I have splotchy red complexion areas in my t-zone, around my nose and especially my cheeks. I blend the makeup over those problem areas and am amazed at how well it works to even out my uneven skin tone. Now that I am in my forties, I also struggle with some dry sky patches on my face. This makeup never makes my skin feel dry. Almay claims that it helps to hydrate skin. It lists “replenishing hydrators and refreshing cucumber” on the bottle. It also provides SPF 15 sun protection.

Almay Line Smoothing makeup is hypoallergenic. It washes off easily with warm water and facial cleanser or soap, and has never clogged my pores.
Almay products are readily available at many stores. You can find this liquid foundation in many places. The price is reasonable, especially if you use it more for problem areas than overall coverage.

Abreva Cold Sore Concealing Patch

Abreva has released clear, non-medicated concealing patch to protect and cover up cold sores. The patch allows air to penetrate, yet keeps out contaminants. Meanwhile, it can be covered with makeup for concealing the area. It wears for up to 8 hours. I gave the product a try. I didn’t have a cold sore, but I tried it out on my lip anyway.

Abreva Cold Sore Patches

The kit comes in a little bag and includes a box of patches, a mirror, and a pretty decent concealer brush. Application is easy. Just follow the steps below:

  • Wash your face with a mild soap, and use a fresh towel to pat your cold sore and the neighboring area dry.
  • Open Conceal packaging and remove the contents inside.
  • Peel back the paper tab marked in red with the number “1” (avoid touching the sticky part underneath by holding on to the small rectangular tab).
  • Continue to hold the rectangular tab and peel back the other paper tab, marked in blue with the number “2”.
  • While looking in a mirror, place the round patch over the cold sore.
  • Press down lightly on the center of the patch and hold the patch in place for 15-20 seconds to make sure it sticks to on top of your cold sore.
  • Gently pull away the applicator tab, at a slight angle away from your face. Voila! Conceal is in place.
  • Apply makeup on top of Conceal to ensure that the cold sore blends in with the rest of your lips.

Here is what the patch looks like before it is applied.

Abreva Patch

I put the patch over part of my bottom lip. It applied fine and was comfortable. It is quite light and flexible, so you really don’t notice it much once it is on your skin. The below photo is before I applied makeup over it.

Abreva cold sore patch application

Because the patch is smooth, applying makeup over it is easy. You can apply concealer, foundation, lip liner, lip stick, gloss, etc to it. I applied some concealer and liquid foundation and then lipstick. I think using a thicker cream to powder type foundation would cover the skin portion a bit better than using the more sheer liquid type that I used here.

Here it is with makeup over it. It covers quite well with lipstick and, while you can still see the patch, especially when taking close-ups with a high definition camera as I did, it is less noticeable than a cold sore would be.

Overall, I like the protection factor from this product and that it gives you a smoother surface to work with.
