Holiday Party Makeup Looks

It’s that time of the year again when all of the holiday parties are starting. Before you know it, you’ll be heading over to Aunt Martha’s with a tray of sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving and cleaning up your own house for the Christmas crowd. While you’re certain to dazzle with your cooking and decorating skills, you’ll also want to be sure to look your best. Try out these makeup looks this holiday season.

Holiday Glamour

Old School Style

Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year’s are all about the traditions right? Bring some of that old school flavor into your makeup. Put on a red lipstick that complements your skin, and use plenty of glamorous black mascara on your eyes. With a dab of blush and a light colored eyeshadow, you’ll be looking like a woman right out of old Hollywood in no time.

Sweet & Simple

When there’s Yorkshire pudding, lasanga and seven fishes to prepare, you don’t always have tons of time to spend on your makeup. Go for something that doesn’t require a lot of effort. You can still look beautiful by sticking to the essentials: foundation, face powder, blush, eyeliner and mascara. Once these staples are on your face, do a quick swipe of eyeshadow and lip gloss to keep your pucker looking pouty for special moments under the mistletoe.

Get Seasonal

Not everyone can pull off super dramatic looks that have hints of the holiday all over them. However, if you’re one of those lucky individuals, take advantage of it. When Christmas rolls around, opt for a glittery green eyeshadow or some bold blush to look as though you just spent a day out in the cold. Don’t go overboard though; you don’t want to look like a Christmas tree!

It’s generally easier to go seasonal at Thanksgiving. Instead of opting for your light pink or light purple eyeshadow that you always wear, go for a smoky eye with some browns or even a subtle orange if you’re daring.

Drama Queen

If you’re not hosting the holidays or just happen to have some extra time on your hands with work and school closed, opt for something that’s a bit more dramatic than you’re used to. Using a dark layer of black eyeliner on the bottom inner lid, bottom lashline and top lashline can really make your eyes stand out. Be aware though that doing so might make them look slightly smaller. Add on some lengthening or voluminous mascara, along with some neutral colored eyeshadow, and you’ll have that doe eyed look that everyone falls for in practically no time at all.

It’s fun to play with makeup, but you don’t always have the time when you’re racing from work to school to the gym. Of course, the holidays can be pretty busy too. However, whether you are hosting a seven course meal at your house or you are heading out somewhere for the New Year’s Eve party of the century, holiday party makeup looks help you to stand out in the crowd.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Liquid Foundation Review

Below is a guest review of Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Foundation.

Recently, I ran out of foundation, and ran frantically to Target, sans make-up and in my pajamas to get some. After what seemed like thirty minutes of testing and reading labels of foundations, attempting to match my skin color and skin type, I finally decided on Maybelline Instant Age Rewind.  (You can find it here!).

Maybelline Instand Age Rewind Foundation

This liquid foundation matched my skin color near flawlessly. It was also very easy to find a color that matched, as there were many options available. Additionally, it blended easily, not drying out before it was spread and not being overly greasy. While I do not yet have wrinkles or signs of aging affecting my skin, I found that Maybelline Instant Age Rewind makes me look a few years younger by giving my skin a bit of a healthy “glow”. This foundation also reduced the severity of darkness under my eyes, and covered some of my facial imperfections such as chicken pox scars, acne scars, and minor skin discolorations. I use this foundation as part of my daily make-up routine, after my concealer.

The best way I have found to apply it has been with a cosmetic sponge, dabbing gently and spreading the coverage evenly across my face. With how wonderful this product makes my face look, I am also very excited that it helps me keep my face looking healthy; protecting it from the sun’s harmful rays. This foundation has sunscreen included in it so I don’t have to spend time putting any on. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind has a sun protection factor (SPF) of 18! It also contains Goji Berry and caffeine which help keep my skin looking young and refreshed every day. I recommend this product to all my friends and family members. My grandmother even recently started using Maybelline Instant Age Rewind liquid foundation. While she is always beautiful in my eyes, I have never seen her look more radiant!
