Callas Cosmetics, Lipstick and Gloss From Korea, France and Japan

Callas is a a cosmetics brand sold developed in Japan and France, but made in Korea. I love Japanese and Korean Cosmetics (e.g I’m trying to get my hands on some Etude House), which tend to always be great quality. Callas makes some good products and the lip items are especially nice.

Callas Brilliant Stars Lip Gloss is a high shine, glimmery gloss that is low on stickiness, but still high on color. That is a good achievement, since usually to get good color some tackiness is expected as a matter of course.  At around $12-15, the price isn’t too bad–not budget range, but not high end either.

Callas Moist Petal Lipstick is a good moisturizing lipstick. The color pay off is high and it feels lovely. this one also runs in the $12-15 range.

Callas Perfect ColorStay Lipstick (pictured above) was my favorite. This slimline lipstick has nice staying power without feeling dry. The packaging is attractive and it pairs well with the gloss. I had a few positive comments on it from friends who saw it. They had not heard of the brand before and liked the look of the tube.  Callas ColorStay runs at around $15.

I linked to order pages from, simply because they are most likley to be in stock there, but I actually ordered mine from Yesstyle, which is an incredible Japanese and Korean fashion, beauty, and accessories site. It is a neat place for some unique items, and well worth looking at for non-beauty items. For example, they have some incredible handbags and shoes!   You can also view Callas items at

theBalm Stainiac, Tinted Lip and Cheek Stain

The Balm Stainiac If you like lip and cheek stains, such a Benefit Benetint (read Beauty and Fahsion Tech review), then you definitely should take a look at theBalm Stainiac Tinted Gel Blush. I recently purchased one in the shade Prom Queen and love it!

The Stain works quite well on the lips and gives a light rose tint that is very similar to Benetint, but perhaps a bit lighter. I found that it builds in color fine, so if you want a bit darker shade, simply apply a bit extra, allowing it to dry in between applications.

The Stainiac tint also seemed to last longer for me than other tints that I have tried. I drank several cans of pop while wearing it and the color stayed just fine. The stain also works quite well as a rose pink blush. On the lips, it looks extra nice with a clear or light pink gloss over it.

The best part about theBalm Staniac though is the price. At $14.99, it is much cheaper than many of the other popular stains that are out there!

Finally a Long Wearing Product That Lasts! L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail Lip Gloss.

infallible Have you seen the ads for L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail Lipgloss ? You know, the ones where Beyonce looks absolutely gorgeous, her lips are super shiny, and the ad claims that the gloss will last for 6 hours?

I’m not one who jumps on an ad and buys a product, but those made me seek out L’Oreal’s new infallible lip gloss in the store. I was also rather curious, because I read somewhere (sorry I don’t remember where now) that L’Oreal used technology taken from long wearing mascara to make the gloss last.

I haven’t always loved long wearing products. In fact I once did a pretty serious comparison of some and didn’t find anything in the lot that I felt was particularly worth wearing (Read Beauty and Fashion Tech Review). Long wearing products tend to dry out the lips, the shades usually are not great, and they often don’t really last as promised. But I found that L’Oreal’s Infallible Gloss is different. This is one good gloss!

I purchased an infallible gloss in Red and put it to the test. The gloss has a nice rich color and is very wearable. Like most long wearing products, it goes through a sticky stage and you have to wait for it set. But the gloss did not make my lips feel as horribly dry as other long wearing products do, and amazingly, it kept its nice glossy look for almost as long as promised.

I wore the infallible gloss through my morning cans of Enviga with no problems. It didn’t rub off and it stayed shiny. After about 4 hours, I thought that it dulled up a bit. When I ate lunch, it still stayed on, but at that point looked pretty darn beat up. But by then it had been on over 5 hours. Refreshingly, L’Oreal doesn’t make outrageous claims with this one like some other companies do (16 hours? come on!), and its claim of six hours is pretty reasonable if you don’t beat it up like I did.

I think L’Oreal has finally created a true winner in the long wearing lip product field. The shades are all lovely and it really does last. L’Oreal products can be found online and at most drugstores and big box retailers.
