Whole Foods Organic Tangerine Lip Balm
I picked up a Whole Foods Market Organic Tangerine lip balm on a whim. What can I say? I’m a sucker for orange flavor and I tend to fall for in store marketing! So,I have yet another lip balm added to my massive collection, and it is a good one!
The texture is fairly buttery, which I prefer over oily. I like my balms to have some thickness to them, with waxy for outdoors and buttery for regular wear. Ingredients are coconut oil, beeswax, extra virgin olive oil, shea butter, tangerine essential oil, cocoa butter, orange essential oil, hemp seed oil, and vitamin E. All are organic.
The balm is lightly scented and flavored. It also was quite affordable at $1.99. Usually I complain that Whole Foods is overpriced, but this one is a good value.
The pic isn’t the greatest (taken with the iphone, sorry). But it looks like a standard lip balm–nobody is likely going to buy this one for its packaging appearance!

Intelligent Nutrients Organic Lip Balm
Somewhere along the way, I picked up an Intelligent Nutrients organic lip balm. I’m guessing that I got it at Ulta, although it might have been sent to me from a company representative and I forgot to write it down. Anyway, this big, fat balm is on the lighter/oily side, so it moisturizes quite well, and gives the lips a bit of nice glossy look, but I tend to find myself reapplying it more often since it isn’t as waxy. Here is the company information on the balm:
“Our super-antioxidant Intellimune® Seed Oil Complex—an anti-aging, synergistic blend of black cumin, pumpkin, red grape, red raspberry and cranberry seed oils—comprises 20% of the total composition of our lip balm. The other nutritious food ingredients are coconut, sunflower seed, castor seed and palm kernel oils. Lip Delivery Nutrition® — providing nutrition and antioxidants both externally and internally every time you lick your lips.”
I’m not really buying that internal nutrition line, but I do like the ingredient list. If you like lighter balms and are looking for certified organic products, Intelligent Nutrients Lip Delivery Nutrition may be of interest to you.

Korres Love Your Lips Collection
The Korres Love Your Lips Collection is a collection of three pretty darn nice lip glosses and a pomegranate lip butter. Korres makes their lip glosses with cherry oil, which manages to moisturize, smooth, and taste good. In fact they taste REALLY good. I don’t really care for cherry flavor, but I loved these! The glosses give good shine and are not at all sticky.
The Pomegranate Lip Butter uses shea butter and rice wax for hydration. These natural products do not contain Parabens, Sulfates, or Phthalates.

Lavanila Healthy Lip Butter and Shine
Lavanila Laboratories specializes in various natural bath and body products, and their Lavanila Healthy Lip Butter is a huge new favorite of mine. This tube lip conditioner is all natural and contains a number of my favorite moisturizing ingredients. It applies just like a tube gloss and gives a bit of shine as well. Consider it a thicker (but not sticky) buttery gloss! It lasts for quite a while too and has SPF 15. Made with vanilla, it also has a nice scent and light taste. Here is what the company literature has to say about it:
The Healthy Lip Butter is packed full of powerful antioxidants, essential oils, and nourishing vitamins that help relieve and hydrate dry lips. Protect your lips from UV-damage with 100% Natural SPF 15 while four exotic butters moisturize and soften. Lavanila Healthy Lip Butters are 100% Natural and are formulated without petrochemicals, phthalates, synthetic dyes, sulfates, or chemical sunscreens. Available in Pure Vanilla, the fresh vanilla bean instantly soothes, making Lavanila’s Healthy Lip Butter the perfect winter indulgence!
LaVanila also makes a lovely Lip Shine , which is an all natural gloss. I gave the Vanilla Lavender flavor a try and found it to be light, glossy, and not at all sticky. It too has a nice light scent and taste–just enough to be pleasant without being overwhelming.
If you like tube products definitely try out Lavanila!

Kiss My Face Organic Shimmers and Lip Shine Gloss
This may be a duplicate for some. Wordpress seems to have somehow eaten the first one!
Kiss My Face is one of my favorite natural; products companies. Awhile back, they sent me their collection of their matching Shimmers and Shines to try. All are quite lovely! I will also be holding a give away of this entire line next week, so keep an eye out for that!
Kiss My Face Sheer Organic Shimmers have a sheer color and come in a light vanilla mint flavor. They condition and moisturize lips with Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter and Vitamin E. I like the very sheer color on these.
The Sheer Organic Shines are high gloss with excellent pigments and color payoff, yet no stickiness whatsoever! They feel great! Shown below from left to right in both sets of swatches are the shades: Pearl, Opal, Ruby, Topaz, Amethyst, and Garnet. The Shimmers on on top and the Shines are below.

Softlips Pure Pomegranate and Honeydew
Softlips has a new 100% natural and 95% organic lip balm, Softlips Pure. It is comes in two wonderful flavors: Pomegranate and Honeydew.
Softlips balms are thin balms that are rather light in consistency. That means that they do not feel heavy on the lips and a generally quite smooth. Light balms, however, don’t tend to last quite as long as the heavier and waxier balms, so there is a trade off. I tend to like heavy balms at night and outdoors and light balms during the day.
Here are the ingredients in Softlips Pure (starred items are organic):
cocos nucifera (coconut) oil*, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil*, beeswax*, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil*, flavor, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter)*, punica granatum (pomegranate) extract*, tocopherol [vitamin E]
I like the addition of olive oil to the balm and sha butter is always a good choice. The balms feel quite nice and do a decent job of conditioning. Mostly though I love the new flavors. Pomegranate and melon are two of my favorites in lip products (my others being orange and grapefruit flavors). The scent/flavor is light—just enough to be enjoyable, without overwhelming.
Look for Softlips Pure at drugstores and big box retailers. Also watch here later this week for a contest to win a set of softlips balms!
