Beauty Blogger’s Favorite Lip Products, Part II
June 18, 2008
Last week I asked several beauty bloggers about their favorite lipstick and balm. This week, I have their answers about their favorite gloss, and their opinions on if lip plumpers really work.
Below are their responses.
What is your favorite lip gloss?
Ellen at Lipstick Powder n Paint told me: “My favourite gloss is currently Clinique’s new Long Last Glosswear with SPF 15 in Juicy Apple. The sheer colour looks natural and just perks up my face, and makes my lips glossy and delicious.
Isabella, the Muse in Musings of a Muse wrote: “Aube Gloss Frutina (Color 16) (Read the Muse’s Review). An absolutely essential and favorite item of mine! Beautiful color, shine, and gloss without the tacky, sticky feeling! Packaging is simply gorgeous as well which is always a plus when it comes to cosmetics!”
Jamie at The Beauty of Life said: “My favorite lipgloss is most definitely Stila Lip Glaze in Starfruit. It’s not sticky or tacky, it stays on for hours, and the color is so pretty whether I wear it on its own or layered over another lipgloss or lipstick. I’ve gone through three tubes in the last two years — and I’m seriously hard-pressed to go through lipglosses since I have so many! (Read Jaime’s Review).
Toya from The Life of a Ladybug told me: “This is so hard, as I love lip gloss more than life! But, if I have to pick a fave, I’m going with MAC Lipglass. It is kind of sticky, of course, but no one beats MAC for color range. If I have to pick one recent favorite, I’m going with Sugar Trance, which is from the Fafi Collection, I believe.”
Henna at Canadian Beauty said: “Ok, so I think that my favourite gloss this year is the L’Oreal Infallible Gloss (Read Henna’s Review) because it really does stay on for a long long time! It’s so cool and I absolutely love it. My favourite lipstick would have to be probably the Slim Shines, and my favourite balm right now is the Satsuma one from the Body Shop.”
Do You Think Lip Plumpers Really Work?
Ellen said: “I don’t really know if lip plumpers work. I have several and have not really been impressed. The one that I have enjoyed wearing and have felt ’something’ is Fusion Beauty LipFusion. It tingles, but in a pleasant way and not that nasty burning feeling that some have.”
Concerning lip plumpers, Isabella said: “Definitely a lover and supported of lip plumpers but I’m not entirely convinced they actually work! Tried ‘em all but never noticed any difference from what I get using normal gloss! But I have faith that I’ll find one that not only glosses but gives me Angelina Jolie lips ;)”
Jamie wrote: “In my opinion, lip plumpers don’t work too well — though I have a few friends who swear by them! I’ve just never had them really do anything for me. I do really like the shine that DuWop Lip Venom leaves on my lips, though.”
Toya said: “Do lip plumpers work? I’ve never found one that does. Then again, I already have full lips, so maybe mine are as plump as they’re gonna get. LOL!”
Henna told me: “I think that lip plumpers work because they do irritate your lips and make them swell up and I don’t use them so I don’t have a favourite, but Maybelline’s is ridiculously strong for those that want that.”

Daneen at Spoiled Pretty tagged me, asking six questions about myself, with these rules:
* Post rules at the beginning of the post.
* Answer all the questions.
* Tag 6 people, and go to their blog and leave a comment to inform them that they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog.
* Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer.
So, here they are:
What were you doing ten years ago? Ten years ago, I was living in Nebraska and was about to begin my second year as a Judicial Law Clerk at the Nebraska Supreme Court. Shortly after, I became the first judicial attorney for the court, acting as a career clerk for Justice Connolly. I stayed there for around ten years total. I was an internet geek even back then, but blogging was not really on the radar then.
What are five things on your to-do list today? Of course all of these will be preceded with, and followed by, applications of lip gloss!
- Finish up some blog posts
- Finish up an opinion at my job
- Research Seattle Sutton menus
- Try out a make your own mineral makeup kit that I have sitting here
- Go buy an iced tea brewer
Snacks you enjoy? Mmmm snacks! I like salty carbs, so I eat a lot of nuts and pretzels. I am a sucker for Cheetos, but I don’t let myself have those often. The new baked Cheetos are not too bad though!
Places you’ve lived? I spent most of my life in Lincoln, Nebraska. A couple of years ago I moved to the Chicago area. I live in Shorewood and work in Elgin.
What are 5 things you would do if you were a billionaire? Can I just say buy more lipgloss and leave it at that? I suppose not, so here they are:
- Quit my day job and write a novel
- Build a fabulous house in a fabulous location
- Give a bunch of money to charity
- Throw a really big party
- Buy my husband a sports car that is not a Corvette (inside joke there)
People you want to know more about? I want to know more about my readers! Leave some comments and tell me about yourselves! I also want to know more about the people who I tag below:
I tag: Kyle at Face Candy, the ladies at Beauty PopStar, Sophia at Beauty Gizmo, Pip at Our Little Acre, Kim at All That And A…, and Makeup Loves Me.

Beauty Bloggers’ Favorite Lip Products, Part I
June 11, 2008
Awhile back I asked a few fellow beauty bloggers what their favorite lip items were. This week I am featuring their responses about their their favorite lipstick and balm. Next week, I will let you know their favorite lip glosses and their opinions on lip plumpers.
I also discovered a fortunate side effect that might be unfortunate for the pocket book. I learned about some new items to try. But of course, now I want to go buy all of them! Especially Lipstick Queen, I have wanted to try that for a long time now.
For more great information about cosmetics and beauty, also visit these ladies’ blogs!
What is your Favorite Favorite Lipstick?
Ellen from Lipstick Powder n Paint says: “I am more a gloss fan than a lipstick one, but I am a huge fan of The Lipstick Queen’s products. Only yesterday I was wearing the Coral Saint lipstick. The colour is very pretty, sheer and not at all fluorescent.”
Like me, Isabella, the Muse at Musings of a Muse, has a favorite from the MAC Fafi Collection. She wrote: “Fafi for MAC Lipstick (Color: Flash n Dash)(Read the Muse’s Review) is the most flattering shade I’ve come across to date! So flattering in fact I considered purchasing a back up!” the Muse also provided the below picture of her favorites, so you can see the shade:

Jamie at The Beauty of Life told me: “I am currently totally in love with Lancome Color Fever Shine in Pixel Pink. I am so glad I snapped up a tube before it was discontinued! It’s not too dark or too bright on my lips — it just gives the best pinkish tinge. It’s also really creamy and doesn’t start to feel matte or dry at all.”
What is Your Favorite Lip Balm?
Ellen said: “Every night and when my lips need a moisture boost, I apply Bliss Superbalm Lip Conditioner with SPF 15. It feels smooth and does not have an icky taste.”
Isabella shares another favorite with me. She wrote: “Smith’s Rosebud Salve (Read the Muse’s Review ). My cure all to everything! Chapped Lips, Dry Elbows, Cuts and Scraps, Hair Static, Under eye moisturizer, you name it and this stuff can be used as a cure all! Love it and I’m never without it!”
Add in another Smith’s fan! Toya said: “My favorite lip balm: Rosebud Salve, hands down. I also love its sisters: Minted Rose, Strawberry and Brambleberry Rose.”
Jamie says: I actually have two favorite lip balms! There are tons of Bonne Bell LipSmackers in my purse, on my desk at work, on my vanity in the bathroom, on my nightstand … basically anywhere I am, there’s at least one with me. I love all the flavors and they make my lips feel really soft for hours (Read Jamie’s Review). I also recently discovered Korres Lip Butter and I love it! I have it in both Quince and Pomegranate, and each taste amazing and really help my lips to keep from getting chapped.
Check in next Wednesday for more beauty blogger favorites!
