Chapstick Overnight Lip Treatment

I am a lip balm junkie and usually reapply it several times overnight. So, when I came across Chapstick Overnight Lip treatment at a drugstore, I figured I would love it. Unfortunately, I had mixed results.

I found that the cream-like balm didn’t last all that well for me and I ended up reapplying my regular balm, which I also preferred, just as often.

The ingredient list also wasn’t all that impressive to me:

Active Ingredient: Dimethicone (2%). Inactive Ingredients: Aloe Extract, Cetyl Alcohol, Colloidal Silicon Dioxide, Cyclomethicone, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Isocetyl Stearate, Lactic Acid, Methylparaben, Microcrystalline Wax, Petrolatum, Propylparaben, Salicylic Acid, Vitamin A, Vitamin E.

There are a couple of exfoliators in there, some not-so-natural moisturizers, and paraben preservatives. since I can get more moisture with a good natural balm made with a nice mix of oils, butters and wax, I will stick with that.

  1. Thius is an overnight treatment, you are not supposed to use it during the day. If you use it overnight you will not have to reapply because you will be asleep. When you wake up, you just go about your day with your regular lipstick or gloss. I think this is why you were not satisfied. You didn’t use it correctly for ONLY while you’re sleeping.

  2. Carmen, as I noted in the first line, I often reapply during the night. So, I expect a night treatment to last as well as, if not better than, a day use balm, because I don’t want to wake up with dry lips and find my self reapplying it in the middle of the night. This one didn’t cut it. It gave out more quickly than plenty of regular balms. So there was no misuse–the product just simply didn’t last as well for me.
