Most lip liners have that as an ingredient and it is known to cause itchiness and flaky skin in some people. It could be a different ingredient bothering you, but that is the biggest suspect. Anyway, look for natural lip liners or check ingredients for ones without bismuth. Note that other cosmetics also contain bismuth, including many mineral makeups that claim to be "pure" or "natural." I haven't tried these, but Carefree Beauty makes a bunch of lip products, including liners, that are organic and do not contain bismuth or other irritants. Meanwhile though, for the last year or so, I seem to have developed some kind of allergy(?) to my lip liners? At first it was only Lancome liners I could not wear, but now even my staple MAC is deserting me! Along my liner line, my lips get extremely chapped and flaky. Lipsticks/glosses don't seem to be a problem. I would love any recommendations you might have on a liner that is not likely to chap me -- I really NEED to wear liner along with my color (p.s.
