Pixi Cosmetics Lip Blush
Pixi Cosmetics a division of Petra Cosmetics, have recently become available in target stores and I grabbed a few items to try. Among them was the interesting Pixi Lip Blush.
I label this one interesting because it really is lip stain packaged in a felt tip pen. I tried the shade Youth, which is a lovely light pink. The pen makes application a breeze. Heck, with the fairly pointed tip, you can even line your lips with this thing! I also loved the shade. A swatch is below:
I found that the lip blush lasted very well, and it worked particularly well as a stain underneath a sheer lip color or gloss. One other thing of note on the Pixi Lip Blush is that it comes in multiple shades. Many of the popular stains tend to come in one dark rose shade, so having alternatives is rather nice.
Look for Pixi Cosmetics at Target stores or online.

Lip Lust Light Up Lip Gloss From Hot Pants Cosmetics
I was sent a Hot Pants Lip Lust gloss to try. It is similar to the Rimmel light up gloss (read review) and Liparazzi gloss (read review) in that it is packaged with a light and a mirror–perfect for application in a dimly lit club! The gloss is advertised as plumping without tingling by including cottonseed oil to fill lines and improve shape. It also has mica in the pigment to create an interesting and rather pretty sparkle.
I tried Lush Lips Rich Mocha shade, which had a strong mocha chocolate scent and flavor. If you like chocolate, you will love this. If not, then you might want to opt for a different shade and flavor. Although quite brown in color, I found the tint to be sheer, so it looked just fine on me, even though I tend to wear pinks and avoid tans and browns.
What really impressed me though was the sparkle and shine. The mica in this gives the gloss a really nice shimmer that is perfect for nights out–something that fits perfectly with the idea of having a light up gloss. The gloss also has a very moisturizing feel to it that is not at all sticky, something that surprised me considering that it has a fairly high amount of pigment, which usually is what makes glosses stick a bit. Overall, it is a big winner in the flavored gloss department for me!
Lip Lust is available on the Hot Pants website for $19.99.

Stila Lip Glaze Trio at Ulta
I picked up An ULTA exclusive Lip Glaze Trio at my local Ulta store. The trio contains mini Stila lipglazes in Raspberry, Fruit Punch, and Grapefruit.
I’m a pretty big Stila Lip Glaze fan (read previous review), so I was happy to essentially get three shades for the price of one.
If you haven’t tried Stila lip glaze before, it is a fairly thick gloss with a good, but sheer, color punch. They tend toward a slightly sticky side because of their heaviness, but the trade off is that they last a long time and have great shine and color.
Below are swatches from the trio in the following order, Raspberry, Fruit Punch, Grapefruit:

Contest! Win a C&C California for Burt’s Bee’s T-shirt in Size Small
Update: Congratulations to Kylee who won this giveaway. Kylee, an email has been sent to you!
Here is your chance to win a great C&C California T-shirt, and you can even get three chances! Once here at Girl Gloss, once at Beauty and Fashion Tech, and yet another chance at the Vote for Natural site in the info below.
If you are not familiar with either Burt’s bees or C&C California, you should be.
Now, Burt’s Bees has teamed up with actress Julian Moore to give consumers the opportunity to cast their votes for natural personal care at Burt’s Bees’ Election Day in New York City and to win prizes such as a C&C California shirt. Here is the information I was sent on the promotion:
Like many consumers, Burt’s Bees has always believed that natural ingredients are safer and more beneficial. The trouble is, it can take a lot of reading between the lines of labels to figure out what’s natural vs. synthetic. To help consumers find what they’re really looking for in a natural product, Burt’s Bees has worked closely with the Natural Products Association and other likeminded brands to develop a Natural Seal—a symbol that lets consumers know when products contain at least 95% natural ingredients. On Burt’s Bees’ Voting Day, a vote for natural is also a vote for the Natural Seal, helping make natural a clear choice after all.
To ensure that the best candidate comes out on top, “green” actress Julianne Moore will be on hand to cast the first vote for natural at the Burt’s Bees Voting Booth at Merchants’ Gate at Columbus Circle in NYC. Other NYC voters can learn more about ‘natural’, cast their vote and receive samples of Burt’s Bees products.
Most importantly, consumers across the America are invited to join Julianne and this movement, casting their votes for the natural at www.votefornatural.com, where they can also learn more about the movement as well as win prizes, including a limited-edition C&C California for Burt’s Bees T-Shirt. Each vote represents a conscious choice to use natural products over the potentially harmful synthetic alternatives as well as support for the new Natural Seal. A ‘vote’ for Natural lets the competition know that the public wants transparency in natural personal care.
You can also win one of the C&C California shirts on both Beauty and Fashion Tech and Girl Gloss! The one being given away here is size Small.
How To Enter: Leave a comment before the end of Tuesday, September 23, stating why you appreciate or would like to try natural products, Burt’s Bees, or C&C California. You must answer one of those questions in order to be entered. Just saying “hi” won’t cut it! One entry per household please. Duplicate entries will be disqualified. On September 24, I will randomly select a winner, who will be notified here and by email. Failure to respond within 7 days will result in the prize being redrawn.
I will be out of town during much of this contest, so please don’t be alarmed if your entry doesn’t show up right away, I will likely be approving comments much slower than normal! Promotional/spam comments entries will be deleted per the comment policy. Please don’t use your website or product as your user name or include promotional or commercial links in the text, it violates the comment policy.
Good luck!

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Swivel Stick Balm
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Swivel Stick Is a great basic and very affordable drugstore balm. I adore this balm and looking at its ratings on drugstore.com, so do a whole bunch of other people!
The balm, as I said, is very basic. No fancy packaging, no fancy flavors, just plain good moisturizing protection. Here are the ingredients:
Cocoa (Theobroma Cacao) Extract, Mineral (Paraffinum Liquidum) Oil, Microcrystalline Wax (Cera Microcrystallina), Cocoa (Theobroma Cacao) Butter, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Fragrance, Carotene (CI 40800)
I think the key to success for this one is the cocoa butter. That makes the balm particularly conditioning without being waxy and it also balances the mineral oil so that the balm is not too light either. It is nice stuff. Look for it in drugstores and at big box retailers.
