Senna Cosmetics Lip Sync Duo: Lipstick and Gloss Together

lipsync01I am in loooooove with lipstick/gloss combos! Awhile back I raved about the Sonia Kashuk combo (read review). Now I am adoring the Senna Lip Sync in Paris Pink, which combines a sheer rose lipstick with a pink gloss. Senna describes their Lip Sync duos as follows:

The user-friendly lipstick-lipgloss duo is available in three shades that look stunning no matter how you mix and match them.  A La Mode is a soft rose peach lipstick paired with a sparkling peach gloss, Stunning pairs earthy coral glowing lipstick with a golden-hued gloss and Paris Pink combines a true rose lipstick with a soft warm pink gloss.

Lip Sync formulas are flavored to taste like almond biscotti and include natural ingredients such as shea butter, sweet almond oil, green tea extract and Maxi Lip®. These conditioning and soothing elements ensure that lips stay super moist and that the color they provide won’t fade.

The Paris Pink duo is indeed quite nice. The lipstick is creamy and smooth with a great shade. It is sheer but not too sheer. Instead of matching the shade, the gloss is done in a compatible shade of pink. So either could be worn alone, or they work well together. The gloss is not at all sticky and the light flavor is pleasant.

Below are swatches from the Paris Pink set:

On the left is the lipstick, the middle is the lipstick combined with gloss, and on the right is the gloss alone.

NYC Cosmetics Lippin Large Lip Plumper

New York Color Cosmetics (NYC) is one of the value drugstore brands that tends to do a pretty good job with delivering good makeup items for little money. Although I have at times had issues with some of their glosses, I really like their new line of plumping gloss, Lippin Large Lip Plumper.

This gloss is rather thick and fairly well tinted, so it tends to give a decent amount of color. Although on the thick side, I did not find it to be sticky like some thick glosses can get. The gloss gives a pretty strong tingle, which I also like. But as usual, seeing actual plumping from any volumizer is rare for me. I buy them simply for the tingling feel and because many are just plain good glosses.

I tried all six shades and the skin swatches are below. Funny thing–I could feel them tingling a bit on my arm!

You can find NYC Cosmetics at major drugs stores and big box retailers, such as that red and white bullseye place.

Thevi Cosmetics Lipstick

Thevi Lipstick ASian Hispanic Middle Eastern Makeup Thevi Cosmetics is a unique line that caters to the New Ethnic market -every light-to-dark skinned woman of Asian, South Asian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean descent. The line focuses on vibrant colors that are natural, yet vibrant. The founder describes it as follows:

“I know that there are many, many women like me. Women to whom ‘natural’ means ‘colorful.’ After all, what is more natural than a flower, a butterfly, a sunset? In our homes, in our dress, even in our foods and in our makeup, we are women who feel comfortable with color. In fact, we crave it. And while our skins come in a wide range of tones and shades, we all look best with a more intense makeup. Red lips. Strongly defined eyes. Visible cheek color. And of course, fresh, smooth complexions.”

I don’t have the skin tone that the line is aimed at, but I tried a Thevi high impact lipstick anyway, since lip colors are much more universally flattering. The lipstick is quite nice. It has a creamy, moisturizing feel and good color that is more than sheer, but not opaque—which is just about how I like it best. It is also packaged in an attractive slim line tube, and contains Vitamin A, E and C.

Besides, the lip items, the entire is line is also full of beautiful shades. If you are in Thevi’s demographic, or even if your aren’t but want some more colorful shades, check them out.
