Walgreens Apothecary Beeswax Lip Balm

370653If you go to Walgreens, you will find that they have started branding a line called Walgreen’s Apothecary.  I grabbed a beeswax lip balm from the line, and boy am I glad that I did!

This peppermint balm uses beeswax and oils instead of petrolatum, which is always a plus for me. It is a thicker balm, that lasts long and feels rich. It also has a huge peppermint taste, which I love.

It reminds me a lot of Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm–so much so that I wondered if Burt’s bees wasn’t producing it for Walgreens. But looking at the ingredients, the two products seem a bit different.  Anyway, if you like one of those, you are bound to also like the other!

  1. The vendors who sends it to the Walgreens Distribution centers are real asses. They mix the case pallet up instead of one item next to the other. Although I do like this line from Walgreens (which I also have the same lip balm, but bought it with my DC dollars), as an employee who receives this before it hits the stores, I get flashbacks of having to waste time over working it as it arrives off the trailer.

No, Burt’s Bees does not produce for Walgreens. There is a few stores near Walgreen’s headquarters in Deerfield, Illinois dedicated to manufacturing products with similar content to other name brand items. If you did not know, Walgreens has been in business since the turn of the 20th century….well over 100 years. Like Walmart, Walgreens is fairly typical trying to sell their own brand as it will cost them less than getting it from outside vendors.

  2. I have been using the Walgreens Apothecary Peach Nut Oil Liquid Soap for over a year now and it is the best. But lately I can’t seem to find it and have tried three different Walgreens locations. – - Is it still being made and where can I buy it?
