Revlon Mix and Mingle Spring Collection Lip Gloss
February 29, 2008
I purchased a Revlon Mix & Mingle Lip Palette in Chatty Cherry at a local drugstore and love the look that it gives.
The gloss is part of a very pretty spring collection that focuses on sheer, light, and feminine shades. With three shades swirled together in a little pot, you can control the color a bit. For example, Chatty Cherry has a swirl of berry red, with frosted pink and lighter tan. Mixed together, they give a very light berry pink color, with a lot of nice shine. No issues with stickiness. For a more berry red shine, I use the red portion alone.
One thing to note is that the color tint to this is very light, so to get a decent tint, I tend to focus on the red, and even then it is like a tinted glow–a particularly pretty tinted glow at that! I liked that, but be aware that keeping in line with the light and feminine theme of the collection, the Mix and Mingle glosses aren’t meant to be much more than a sheer tinted gloss. If you want serious color, you will be better off with a lipstick.
The collection also has some standard glosses in beautiful limited edition shades. Revlon makes great standard tube gloss, and a couple of my all time favorite shades are from their limited edition collections.
All of the Revlon Mix and Mingle products were selling out fast at local drugstore when I was shopping for it, so look for it quickly if you are interested!

Paula Dorf Lip Color, Cream and Sheer
February 27, 2008
I recently bought a couple of shades of Paula Dorf Lip Color For Lips. If you are not familiar with Paula Dorf products, you should be! Everything I have ever tried from Paula Dorf has been an exceptionally good product and the lipsticks are just as great.
Paula Dorf cosmetics have some of the best pigmentation around. The products contain full pigment in beautiful shades that last and last. The lip shades tend to come in two varieties: The opaque cream lip color, which has shades that are packed with pigment for nice full color looks, and the sheer lip tint, which has shades that are still well pigmented but a bit lighter on the overall coverage. I love both!
Paula Dorf also makes lip liners to match the collection, and if you are a person who loves eyeshadow with lots of pigment, you owe it to yourself to check those out as well! Now that I think about it, I also have a favorite Paula Dorf blush and lip gloss. so I foresee more Paula Dorf posts in the future!

Maybelline Shine Seduction Lip GLoss
February 26, 2008
I can’t believe how hard it is to find web sites selling Maybelline Shine Seduction Lip Gloss. It has been out for some time and is quite popular. So popular in fact that I never seem to be able to get the shades I want because the local stores are sold out! So I was a bit amused to find them for sale in pairs at Amazon.com.
Maybelline Shine Seduction is pretty much tied with Rimmel’s Vinyl Lip as my favorite drugstore lipgloss. Those serve different purposes for me, so I have a number of each.
First and foremost, Shine Seduction lives up to its name. This stuff shines to no end. But it also has some incredible colors and staying power. The color is a bit more opaque than I have seen in drugstore glosses and it reminds me at times of the more pigmented M.A.C. lipglass shades. The stickiness factor is low, which is surprising considering the amount of pigment, but it can feel a bit thick if you put a lot on.
I also love the packaging. Maybelline put Shine Seduction is click up tubes that twists the gloss up through several little holes. It makes evenly dispensing and applying the product quite easy. Bitten Plum (pictured) is a great neutral plum shade that has become my favorite.
Maybelline has also just released Volume XL Seduction Lip Plumper, which is a plumping version. I am loving that as well and will write more on it in the future. Both types can be found in all major drugstores.

Sally Hansen Lip Inflation
February 21, 2008
I am declaring Sally Hansen Lip Inflation as a top drugstore lip plumper. Freeze 24/7 is my favorite higher end plumper.
Lip inflation is first and foremost an excellent gloss. It is all that you would expect in a quality gloss–nice and shiny, feels moisturizing, gives a nice color tint, etc. So when coupled with its good price, I would recommend it for those reasons alone.
But Sally Hansen also managed to make a lip plumper that perhaps works a bit. So often I see nothing when I try a lip plumper. I like the tingle, so I happily buy them without any expectations and when I think I see something, then I get impressed. Lip Inflation did not get me jumping for joy the way Freeze 24/7 did, but I did think I got a tiny bit of plumping, which I can’t say for almost all other lip plumpers out there, especially not drugstore brand ones.
On a side note: Sally Hansen has been impressing me a lot lately in the lip product department. Normally people think of them for nails, but they are quickly becoming lip product specialists as well and are doing a consistently good job at it. So check them out for any of your lip product needs.

My New Holy Grail Lip Shade From M.A.C. and Fafi!
February 19, 2008
I am always searching for my perfect lip shade. Sometimes–as in once every 6 to 8 months or so–I find it. But I am fickle, so after a bit I start looking again. Any of those that reach that favorite designation though tend to stay close at hand for a very, very long time after and keep getting repurchased when possible. And in the end, this collection of all time favorite shades is not very large.
It seems that many of my all time favorites come from limited edition collections. I almost cried when my favorite peach shade limited edition Revlon gloss ran out. So now when I hit a favorite limited edition item, I tend to buy a couple of them. I will have to try to do that with the latest edition to my all time favorite list.
My current love is the lipstick shade Straw Baby, from the M.A.C. Cosmetics Fafi Collection. This light berry/rose shade has a bit of pearl/gold lustre in it that is gorgeous. The color is muted enough for day and work wear, yet shimmery enough for evening. I also found that adding the brightly colored lipglass shade Totally It, gives it a fun extra punch of color that is not all that overwhelming. Don’t be scared of how that shade looks in the tube! The look is great for drinks out at a club or for a light and fun look. Add the shade Squeeze It, and the lippie becomes a nice glossy deep berry that is perfect for a dressier evening.
Unfortunately I can’t easily stock up on this one right now because it is already sold out online. But I plan to check my local MAC store or department store counter and see if they still have it. This is a shade that I could easily use several tubes of!
Oh, and there is a bonus: The tube comes with Fafi art on it! Very cool!
