Coming soon from M.A.C. Cosmetics is the Mattene collection. This collection of matte lipsticks is truly wonderful for women such as myself who love traditional matte colors.

From the promotional materials for the collection:

One worry about matte lipsticks is always that they will feel dry. I had the opportunity to test some out, and did not have any problems in that department. The lipsticks were creamy and full of pigment. They looked wonderfully matte, without being super dry. In fact they are fairly moisturizing. I did, however, layer some flat lipglass over them, not so much out of concern about dryness, but to add a slight gloss to the shades. I would recommend avoiding the real shimmery lipglosses with these. That would kind of defeat the purpose. Although I suppose the effect of a matte lipstick with a gold shimmer gloss could be kind of cool. I will have to try that….

My favorite shades were Composure, a neutral bronze plum, and Flattering, a neutral beige pink. The collection includes other shades running from light beige to a deep purple and a bright red. So there is definitely something there for everyone.
