One worry about matte lipsticks is always that they will feel dry. I had the opportunity to test some out, and did not have any problems in that department. The lipsticks were creamy and full of pigment. They looked wonderfully matte, without being super dry. In fact they are fairly moisturizing. I did, however, layer some flat lipglass over them, not so much out of concern about dryness, but to add a slight gloss to the shades. I would recommend avoiding the real shimmery lipglosses with these. That would kind of defeat the purpose. Although I suppose the effect of a matte lipstick with a gold shimmer gloss could be kind of cool. I will have to try that….
My favorite shades were Composure, a neutral bronze plum, and Flattering, a neutral beige pink. The collection includes other shades running from light beige to a deep purple and a bright red. So there is definitely something there for everyone.

Promise: The Diet Lip Balm
Promise Lip Treatment makes an interesting promise–it acts as an appetite suppressant. Containing oils of castor, coconut, spearmint, jojoba, evening primrose, sweet orange, grapefruit, lime, ginger, yerba mate, and vitamin E, it at least sounds pretty tasty!
The company website is pretty careful to say that it is not a diet product, even when alternating that with explanations of how use of the product can suppress the appetite. It does contain Yeba Mate and some other ingredients that can act as appetite suppressants, although I am more familiar with yerba mate being effective when ingested as a tea. I am a bit skeptical of how it would work when simply put on the lips. Heck, reading the ingredients makes me hungry! Mmmm…. grapefuit, lime and ginger!
In any event, it is there and makes some interesting claims. It also is pretty affordable and is likely perfectly fine as a balm. If anyone has tried it, let us know!

Awhile back, I wrote about the e.l.f. cosmetics lip gloss cell phone charms. Lip gloss charms are becoming rather popular. While the e.l.f. charms are quite cheap, and as a few commenters noted, perhaps reflective of that in quality, there are some more expensive ones out there.
is an awfully cute verision of Bourjois’ best-selling lip gloss, Effet 3D. It also is a member’s choice winner in the Cosmetic Executive Women Beauty Awards. 
is yet another cute charm, that is a bit higher end. I guess I would call it middle since Sephora’s line of these items tend to be comparable to the better drugstore brands.
I keep coming across more and more of these. They are all so cute, I wish I could buy them all!

Paula Dorf products are some of my favorites. I had forgotten how much I loved my old and long used up lip liner pencil until I came across this photo:

Paula Dorf makes some other fabulous products as well. The cream blush is another of my favorites. I recently found Paula Dorf products at Ulta when I had not seen the line there before. Sephora carries it as well. So if you can get to a store to see some of the colors in person, I highly recommend it!
